I really love how there’s still so much to be discovered on this planet. Dixon continues to make this series so much more than erotica, it’s sweet and exciting, and I love how the characters grow in each story. With Lila being deaf, it also added a new dimension to the experience, because as she’s separated from her sister no one is able to communicate with her. Rokan was an interesting choice against her, since she’s missing one of her senses and he has a 6th sense with his knowing. I mean we’ve heard about him in the previous books, but he’s always just been more off to the side, so it was great getting to know him. Plus Lila’s attention to the slight nuances of people’s movements gave new insight into the metlaks, and I’m kind of sad we didn’t really learn more about them, though it would be hard at this point to make them out as anything other than savage beasts, but it was still an intriguing look into more of the animal life of Not-Hoth. Though, mostly I’m wishing she’d do a book for Asha and Hemalo to maybe figure out how to make things work with each other.Tags : Barbarian's Touch: A SciFi Alien Romance (Ice Planet Barbarians Book 8) - Kindle edition by Ruby Dixon. Barbarian Touch A SciFi Alien Romance Ice Planet Barbarians Book 8 eBook Ruby Dixon Reviews
I have been hooked since I first stumbled across Ruby and her blue barbarians. Hot, hunky, horned in more ways than one, they are Aliens with swagger. Each time there is a new release, full length or novella, I am all over the preorder link making sure that as soon as it releases its downloaded to my kindle app. Rukan is sweet, patient and makes me wish for one of my own. Lila starts off scared and struggling, not surprising, it's tough being abducted by Aliens and waking up on an ice planet, learning your not alone in the universe. Add in her hearing impairment, things are a bit much to take in. But she grows, she strengthens and blossoms while in the company of her mate becoming someone strong and willing to learn what it takes to live on the planet she now calls home. Add in some twists and turns Barbarian's Touch is another fine example of how creative Ruby is. I cannot claim a favourite story in this series as I love them all equally. I suspect the next story will be interesting to say the least, sparks are going to fly if my guess is correct. Keep up the great work Ruby.
Fun, happy brain candy!!!
Is it The Bell Jar? No.
Is it going to spark a national controversy? Solve racism? Expose multinational corporations for their unethical treatment of animals?
No. No. Still No.
Is it going to make you feel good all over, curl your toes, and make you laugh a bit? Yep )
Totally fluffly, lovey dovey series with just the right amount of rude comments, sass, violence & animistic sex.
There is nothing wrong with indulging in candy. Life is too short to be serious all the time anyway )
A resounding five stars from me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Barbarian's Touch is amazing. It is a page turner. I devoured every single page.
I love this author--I love all her books--and now I can say, this one, Barbarian's Touch is my favorite.
Why? The hero and heroine have touched a chord in me. They awaken every romantic sentiment and tickle every hidden and utterly female, "ready to swoon for her knight" bone within me. I haven't felt this kind of giddiness reading other books in quite a while--not like this and not written like this. This book and this story is special.
Lila crash lands on an alien planet. She is pretty, feminine and dainty--and very deaf. So for her, the horror of her new reality is exponentially high, because she lives in a world of silence.
But she meets Rokan. A native of the planet. A giant, blue skinned, horned, tailed, four fingered and toed guy...but despite the initial differences in his apppearance that frighten her, Lila senses a kindness in him, an understanding of her predicament.
While the other hunky, massive warriors terrify her, she feels attracted to and safe around the gentle giant who approaches her softly and with baby steps tries to gain her trust. He is very attracted to her and wants to help her not feel so isolated and scared.
And as the pages turn, you follow these two. You become part of the whole adventure of what it is like for an Earth woman to be helpless on a planet that ressembles the Arctic and has become now her new home. It is a harsh place, freezing and filled with native life that is hostile and dangerous. It is a place where life is as basic as it was during Neanderthal times--no electricity, cars, computers, plumbing, heaters...and Lila, as a modern woman, has no survival skills.
We watch her as she adapts to her new world and slowly falls for the alien hunk, Rokan, who stays at her side and helps her.
And that is all I am going to say.
You have to read the book.
I love survival shows and movies like Cast Away with Tom Hanks, and this book provides survival adventure in spades. It makes you wonder how you'd survive if dumped on an alien planet--just love it!
Aside from that, the romance and the level of hotness is so fulfilling. The love story moves gradually, but there's a lot of sexual attraction and enough teasing going on between the two, so that by the time the two finally get with the program--you are panting right along with them! The scene where the hunter finally makes Lila his--you will be hitting that High C (especially if you're an opera singer)--the scene is that ...um...fulfilling for all! The best, sweetest, and hottest love story ever. It will not disappoint.
I can't say enough about this book, and I feel my above review does not even do it justice.
Let's put it this way. Writing romance is not as easy as many would like to think. You know when a story is written well, when the author manages to pull you into her story and you begin to experience the emotional journey her characters are going through right along side them. This is what happens to you when you read this book. You become the heroine, you see her Rokan through her eyes, you feel her fears, her insecurities, and her attraction to the brawny alien male who so obviously is in love with her. And he is the best romantic hero ever--sexy and all alpha male--but patient, tender, loving...And--you get to enter his mind as well; you feel his anguish, how he wants nothing else but to protect her, every thought revolving around his desire to make her feel accepted and loved; he is so attracted to her and desperate to convince her without pushing her away that she is HIS...so so sweet--and sexy.
I read this book a few days ago--and it is still alive inside of me, not letting me go. I find myself daydreaming about the Planet NotHot and all those single hunters still up there in the universe somewhere as I write this review, yearning and searching for their mates..."I'm here guys! I'm here!!" lol!!
Happy Reading!
This is one of my favorite series that I've discovered in the last few years but the individual books are hit or miss for me. Sometimes I love them, and sometimes not so much. This one hit it out of the ballpark for me. In the original I.P.B. book, a large part of what I found so endearing is that the main couple couldn't communicate for most of the book. In this story, the female lead Lila is deaf, without her hearing implants the struggle to communicate with the protagonist Rokan is present again. Their interaction isn't as humorous as Georgie and Vektal's was, but I liked it nonetheless. The twist introduced with the volcano was really interesting and I can't wait to see how relations with one of the main nemesis of the Sa-khui tribe develops now that new knowledge about the Metlaks has come to light. I enjoyed seeing Lila develop over the course of the book, starting out very hesitant and shaken from suddenly losing her hearing again to taking control of her new life on a frozen alien planet. The erotic scenes are a much slower build up in this book but they don't disappoint and the lack thereof is part of the plot line.
I really love how there’s still so much to be discovered on this planet. Dixon continues to make this series so much more than erotica, it’s sweet and exciting, and I love how the characters grow in each story.
